Yes it is possible and yes it is the best feeling in the world. The struggle is definitely real and there are real things you can do to eliminate it. Having a successful business and enjoying an extraordinary lifestyle doesn't have to be a nail biting experience every day behind closed doors.
You can do life however you want to and do it with ease. This has been the most rewarding experience for me in my adult life. It has shown me that I can have whatever I want and enjoy the journey of making it happen.
The journey does not have to be all about the grind, the three hours of sleep, and the sacrifice of family time, personal time, and every financial resource you put your hands on.
I have learned that many women entrepreneurs like myself believe they can have what they want but do not believe the journey will be very enjoyable. Well, I come to tell you that this does not have to be the case for you. I too have felt this very way on my quest to living the life I want. It took me having a serious breakdown to recognize that God loves me so much and has so much working in my favor. It is not in His nature to give me a desire that would require me to sacrifice everything He has given to me to be a good steward over. What I know for sure is being a good steward over the things that have been entrusted to you will assist you in obtaining more of what you desire. When I began to trust this and accept it as truth for me was when the peace came back into my life. Today I want to share three revelations that got me out of the struggle and continue to make my day to day effortless:
1.There is no need to try to become something you already are. One of the easiest jobs I ever got was an Analyst position with an airline in an accounting department. I saw the job description which sounded like something I would enjoy doing. I wanted to work for the airline, it was close to my home, and I believed in my heart that I could learn the job. The desire was in my heart to do it and I believed I had the ability to do it. When I applied for the job I remember telling the interviewer that I had no accounting background and very little Microsoft training which was required for the position. I asked if I could come and train at the resource center they had for employees to learn Microsoft better and she said yes. She told me if I trained well enough to pass a Microsoft assessment I would get the job. So I came back and trained and passed the test. She gave me the job and raised the pay for me by $2.00. When I started the job there were four of us working. When I left the job I was the last man standing. I had never stopped training and eventually created a more automatic process that made the job easier and required less people. Eventually, I left the company and started my own business. That was 13 years ago and I have been going strong ever since. When you are hired for a position with a company, you are the title they have given you. Yes, you need to learn their policies and procedures to operate in your position with that company successfully, but you are already the title they have given to you. With that being said, you are already a successful business owner, mother, wife, coach, etc. Is there a learning process that needs to take place for you to function with higher levels of excellence in that office? Absolutely! Yes, you may need to learn how to share your offerings in the office you hold, but that does not negate the office.
2.Start and Do Not Stop Years ago I decided to live a more relaxed life and move to the gulf coast of Florida. I went online and found a gorgeous condo. I called the number for it and spoke with the owner and told him I was interested in moving within the next six months and that I would call him closer to that time to see if it was still available. Six months later came and I called the number back and a lady answered and said she thought it had already been rented but, she would have the owner call me back. The owner returned my call and said that he had been holding it for me. I told him I was coming down the next week and he gave me the number for the property manager so I could meet her to move my things in. Did I mention I had not filled out an application, had a credit check run or paid a deposit? I had never seen the place in person, just pictures. I had never met the owner. My dream was to work in Atlanta and live on the beaches of Destin, Florida. I was not concerned with how it was going to happen, I was just focused on what I wanted. I was literally driving to Destin with my car loaded and calling to have the electric switched over to my name at the same time. The property manager and I were on the phone laughing because she had never even seen the property in person herself. When I finally arrived, the property manager and I opened the condo door and turned on the light. I wish I could show you a picture of our faces. I could not write the check fast enough. It was gorgeous and filled with everything I could possibly want or need, on a private section of the beach no less. It was one of the most effortless decisions I have ever made. All because I started and never stopped until I got what I wanted. I didn't ask what anyone thought and I didn't worry about HOW it was going to happen. I just did everything I knew to do and moved full speed ahead trusting that everything was working in my favor. You will find that struggle is most always attached to fear and uncertainty. Lose it!
3. Challenges bring valuable lessons. Years back I had a client that I felt was very difficult early on in our business relationship. He was very particular and required more from me than I was used to giving. I can't tell you a amount of times I woke up and said I was going to let him go. The thing that was so interesting is every time we had a hiccup, I seemed to learn some amazing lesson. It always propelled me in my business in ways I only dreamed of. (I mean that literally.) One day he requested I travel with him and his family for the Thanksgiving holiday. I did not want to go. First, it's a holiday, and second, there were so many dynamics associated with this trip. I just knew it would be the trip from hell. His secretary set everything up and sent me my itinerary. The day came to travel and I found myself on a private plane. Anyone who knows me knows that I love luxury travel and hotels. LOVE! I have always dreamed of flying on a private plane, I had even placed one on my vision board years before I met him. I had a wonderful time. It was one of the best VACATIONS I've ever had. Yes, there were some challenges and I handled them with grace and excellence. As a result, I was paid double my fee. I enjoyed a beautiful plane ride and private villa with all of the help I could possibly want. To top it all off, when I returned home I realized the plane we flew on was the same exact one I had on my vision board. So much for a challenge. I have learned that challenges can help get us closer to our goals. We just need to remain focused on the goal and not the discomfort of the challenge.
