I remember losing my first 10-lbs. on my weight loss journey. I was so excited and took the first opportunity I could to celebrate. When I completed my certification for coaching , I celebrated BIG. The accomplishment was huge for me. I had been talking about becoming a coach for years. When I finally decided to take back control of my life and actually live, the celebration came again. I am all for the celebration. I could find something to celebrate every day. With all of my celebrating, I began to recognize something very important about my mindset. It was a real eye opener. I learned that instead of celebrating an accomplishment and using that energy to help me move forward to what I really desired, I was settling for the milestone and forgetting about my dream. I would spend months in that space of a 10lb. weight loss. What happened to my desire of being in perfect health and having more energy? I still had 30-lbs to go. Almost like settling for the cupcake when you really need the cake. The cupcake isn't going to feed the wedding reception. "Oh but the cupcake looks so beautiful". Yes, it does but, you need it on a greater scale.
When we lose sight of our why, we will settle for the small accomplishments along the way.
Congratulations for the client you just picked up. That's huge and deserves a celebration. Don't forget the reason you started the business was to give you more freedom to spend time with your family and put your kids through college. It will actually take more than one client to accomplish that dream. We have to continue on. When challenges come you can remind yourself of that same milestone to give you the energy you need to continue forward.
When you take a flight to Italy with a layover in Paris, you celebrate that you made it to Paris. You being there is huge considering you've never traveled outside of the United States. You don't cancel your connecting flight to Italy just because you made it to Paris. You continue on because the entire purpose of going to Italy was to expand your business. The milestones along the way only scratch the surface of all you are able to accomplish. Remember the big picture and press your way forward. You got this. Leave your comments below, they could empower someone else to not settle.
